Hyundai sells 36,500 units thanks to newly-launched vehicle

By Ha Man-joo, India correspondent, AsiaToday - Hyundai Motor continues its upward sales momentum in India through the month of July with sales totaling 36,500 units, a 24.7% increase over the sales total from July 2014.
Local media outlets including Economic Times analyzed that the growth for the company was driven with its newly-launched SUV Creta, i20 Active and Elite i20 models. Creta was launched on July 21.
Rival Maruti Suzuki (MSI)'s July sales rose by 22.5% at 110,405 units from 90,093 units sold in July, 2014. The entry level combine of the Alto and Wagon R sold 37,752 units, up 31.3% (July 2014: 28,759).
Honda Cars India reported 18.55% increase at 18,606 units while homegrown Tata Motors saw its car sales rising by 27.1% at 7,520 units. Meanwhile, Toyota Kirloskar sold 12,070 units as compared to 11,921 units, up 1.24%. Utility vehicle major Mahindra & Mahindra (M&M) saw its sales down by 6% to 31,087 units in July.
In the two-wheeler segment, India's largest two-wheeler maker Hero MotoCorp reported 7.97% decline in sales at 487,580 units in July. Honda Motorcycle and Scooter India reported a 2.15% growth in sales at 389,626 units.
