By Ha Man-joo, India correspondent, AsiaToday - Prof. Ravikesh, Dean of School of Korean Studies of Jawaharlal Nehru University (JNU), said on Tuesday, "I'm looking forward to AsiaToday's University Student Intern Press Corps helping our students improve Korean writing skills and logical analysis ability to analyze social phenomenon."

In an interview with AsiaToday at his office, Prof. Ravikesh said, "There are differences between teaching at an university and writing articles in terms of terminology, and more."

He said, "Working as an intern reporter will help students preparing their writing exam, which is one of the exams that they find it most difficult to prepare for despite its importance since it accounts to 30 out of 100 points. We will begin publish a Korean journal titled 'Moogoonghwa' ('Hibiscus' in English) this year. We plan to insert professors' and students' thesis and book reviews as well as intern reporters' articles."

AsiaToday held lectures on reporting a news and writing an article for 15 graduate students in Korean studies at Nehru University for two days on Feb. 1-2 and launched Indian University Student Intern Press Corps. The intern reporters will work with AsiaToday for the next six months.

When asked about the development strategy of the Department of Korean studies, he said, "Culture and academic research are the two central pillars. While enriching our existing events, such as Hangul Day celebration festival, we plan to hold major cultural and academic events with the support of the Korea Foundation in celebration of the faculty's 20th anniversary. As the first event, we will hold an international academic conference titled 'The Colonial and Post-colonial Literature' on February 19 and 20 at Nehru University."

He said, "We are seeking ways for Nehru University to contribute to the development of Indian studies in Korea apart from playing its role as a central university of Korean studies in India."
