Actress Song Hye-kyo from upcoming film “Dark Nuns” revealed that she has recently been more drawn to genre films rather than melodramas.
Directed by Kwon Hyuk-jae and set to be released on Friday, “Dark Nuns” is an occult film about nuns performing exorcisms to save a boy possessed by an evil spirit. Song Hye-kyo plays Sister Yunia, who is willing to go to any lengths to save lives and does not hesitate to sacrifice herself.
“I used to mainly do melodramas and romantic comedies, but I got tired of seeing myself in those roles. I felt that I wouldn’t enjoy acting or have any expectations if I continued like that,” she said. “That’s when I came across ‘The Glory.’ Thanks to the drama, I found genre acting to be fun. My acting changed slightly with each co-star, and the challenge of trying something I had never done before was intriguing,” she said.
“When I first read the script, I was flustered and thought, ‘How am I supposed to do this?” she confessed. As a Catholic, she sought advice from nuns around her and practiced smoking for six months.
